Quick Start Guide
We've done our best to give you a head start. If you feel like jumping right in, GO AHEAD!
-
Step 1. Set up your profile.
This allows friends and followers to see the content and bursts you’ve posted. We don’t need your blood type or social security number—just a few pieces of basic information will suffice.
If you feel up to it, dig deeper and add additional information. This can range from your contact info to your favorite vacation spot or ice cream flavor. Totally up to you.
-
Step 2. Set your default location.
Setting your default location allows you to see your hometown weather. If you’ve got a vacation home or want to keep an eye on family members you can add additional towns to your list of locations.
Your default location also lets you upload content via email or your mobile device. See Step 3 below.
-
Step 3. Get your iMapWeather.com email address.
You can use this address to upload content from your email capable mobile device. It’s dead simple.
-
Step 4. Set your alerts. It’s really cool!
Select one of your saved locations to receive updated severe weather advisories via e-mail. You can also sign up to receive 7-day, 3-day or 24-hour forecasts for any of your preset locations. The really cool thing is it will deliver alerts based on where your events are located.
-
Step 5. Find friends or invite your friends.
We want you to be popular. This tab allows you to follow someone (if they reciprocate, they’ll be listed as a ‘friend’). Once you befriend someone, your updates will show up in their profile and vice versa. If your friends aren’t on iMapWeather yet you can direct them to the site using the ‘invite friends’ tab.
MORE INFO:
Messages:
Did one of your friends post an awesome storm video? If so, the direct messaging feature is a great way to find out the details. iMapWeather messaging is a private dialog between users you are following. (no followers, sorry!).
Bursts:
Burts are real-time updates that are less than 200 characters. Think of bursts like updating your status on Facebook or posting tweets on Twitter.
Photos/Videos:
These tabs allow you to post pictures and videos of your weather experiences. Having a blast on the beach? Post it. Golf-ball sized hail making your yard look like a driving range? Post it. We want to see how you are personally affected by the weather around you.
Events:
All of our features are cool, but this one’s really cool. Input your events (vacations, hunting trips, etc) and set up alerts – you’ll receive forecasts and alerts while you’re away. Or, you can just use this feature to stay organized. Your call.
